Kerry Jackson – Geek Show Host
Kerry Jackson
Kerry Jackson grew up in Salem, Utah. He currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with his Korean-American wife, Sue. Jackson often references and discusses his love for geek culture including video games, comic books (Marvel Comics, not DC Comics), and science-fiction movies and television series such as Star Trek and Star Wars. One of his favorite video games is the Lego Star WArs series. His large toy collection consists of Batman, Star Trek, Star Wars, and Marvel Comics Action Figures . Kerry regularly plays audio clips from The Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim lineup including Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Sealad 2021, and Squidbillies.
Jackson often recounts his adventurous weekend experiences (usually involving his fondness for mixed drinks), offers humorous pickup lines, and occasionally performs impressions of celebrities including Larry Flynt, Roy Horn, Lou Ferringo, and Owen Wilson. Kerry has claimed that he has an innate talent for recreating the voices of handicapped celebrities. Kerry also created the character, “Frank Chryst,” a celebrity-reporter who is perpetually grieving over the “horrible, terrible tragedy” of a recently publicized celebrity death.
Jackson also has been candid and jocular about his suffering from possibly a combination of personality disorders, such as Obsessive-Compulsice Disorder, Depression, and Social Anxiety. He says he lies in bed and hears songs or phrases repeat themselves over and over. Mostly these intrusive and repetitive thoughts are Warner Bros. themed. Also, in early 2007, Bill was allowed to read an email from a listener that had seen Jackson shopping, who was noticeably irate and wrathful, due to being surrounded by too many people.
Jackson had a bit part in the film The Singles Ward , but has disavowed his role in the film because he felt it was simply not funny. Despite his best efforts, however, he has been offered a part in a proposed sequel.
Jackson is also responsible for recording, selecting and playing the majority of the sound clips on the show; Allred has described Jackson as the Don Letts of Radio From Hell (referencing Lett’s role in rock group Big Audio Dynamite).
Kerry attempted to participate in The World Series of Pop Culture. After traveling to California, his team, “Shatner’s Midnight Runners” passed the written exam and were allowed to audition for the producers. The were ultimately cut from the contest and sent home with a calendar for their trouble.

Shannon: Elementary school teacher, Color Commentary Man and Bartender at Burt’s Tiki Lounge
Shannon
Shannon is the color commentator/ general geek of the podcast.
Shannon was born and raised on the mean streets of West Valley City, Utah. His Grandmother bought him his first comics at the age of six and he has been hooked ever since. Shannon’s favorite time of the year as a child was when the T.V. Guide fall preview issue was released. He would spend hours with it learning about the new show and cartoon s of the season and planning out his and his brothers viewing schedule. He now owns two Tivos. He spent his high school years on the even meaner streets of Magna, Utah. It was during this time he met Kerry Jackson and became a semi regular character on, and sometimes blowing off school to co-host, the “Radio from Hell Show” calling himself “Shannon the Amazing Sewer Boy”, a superhero that lived in, protected, and commanded all that the sewers of the world contained.
FUN FACT! The Amazing Sewer Boy was not Shannon’s first secret identity. After watching “Condor Man” as a young child, Shannon once fashioned a costume out of yellow pajamas, wings and a beak he made from newspaper, and a pair of swim goggles. He then took up the task of patrolling his neighborhood looking for evil doers Shannon has spent the majority of his adult life working THE Burt’s Tiki Lounge, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Burt’s has been ranked as one of Americas top 20 dive bars in the U.S. and has won best dive bar in Utah almost ever year he has worked there. Burt’s has been featured on Comedy Central’s “Insomniac” and has served drinks to the actors that portrayed Dante and Randall in the “Clerks” movies, as well as comic book creators Matt Fraction and Rick Remender. Burt’s has also hosted some of the greatest live musical and standup comedy acts in the friggin’ world. Shannon is now in the last year of pursuing a degree in elementary education, which isn’t really the radical shift in careers that you think it would be; for the last twelve years he has been babysitting adults who regularly drink themselves down to the developmental level of 5th graders.
FUN FACT! At the age of twenty, Shannon almost fist fought his dad, “Golden Rod” when he found out he had given away all of his old He-Man, Star Wars and GI-JOE action figures and vehicles to the young sons of a friend of the family!
Shannon’s lives in Salt Lake with his wife Charity, and dogs Foley and Smokey. Jeff Vice practically lives there also; Charity calls him here brother husband. Shannon also has a 17 year old son named Zack who, at this point in his life, is into close quarter combat, guitar, making comedy shorts with his friends that they post on YouTube and the Silver Surfer(The one in the comics, not the one that was in that crappy movie!)
FUN FACT! Much like his hero, Bruce Banner, Shannon also has been known to undergo a strange transformation with the proper stimuli. Unlike Dr. Banner, that stimuli is not anger, it is booze. The results do not involve smashing; Shannon does the dishes, mops the floor and cleans the house in general. It’s like he turns into the incredible Merry Maid.

Jeff Vice: Film critic, Deseret News
Jeff Vice
Jeff Vice is the movie smack-talker for The Geek Show
Jeff grew up in Payson, Utah (though he enthusiastically notes that he was born in Southern California). He currently lives in Salt Lake City, Utah, with no one but himself, amongst an ever-growing pile of comic books and DVDs. It’s no wonder why he’s always trying to give some of them away!
He also considers himself to be well-versed in both pop culture and geek culture. He is also a self-professed Marvel Zombie (boo, DC Comics!), and used to be REALLY into Star Trek … at least until too many overly enthusiastic Trekkies sort of ruined it for him. He watches too much television, which really does include the new version of “American Gladiators.” Go figure!
Jeff grew up only a few miles away from Kerry, and went to some of the same movie showings, nerd hangouts and such, but never really “met” him until they were supposedly “adults.” He did regularly play something called “Doubles Chess” against Kerry’s cousin Leslie, who also attended Payson High School.
Professionally … if you can really consider him a professional … Jeff writes movie reviews and occasional music reviews for the Deseret News, and offers his opinions Thursday mornings on Kerry’s Radio From Hell program for X-96. (His favorite movies are “Clerks.” and “Seven Samurai,” in case you’re wondering.)
Prodded by Kerry, Jeff also co-hosted “Sci-Fi Sunday Nights,” a briefly lived, surprisingly fondly remembered, local UPN production in which he mugged shamelessly and offered terrible William Shatner impressions. Though Jeff has heard that his Wally Shawn impression is first-rate and he is now perfecting a Joe Mantegna one as well.
And believe it or not, Jeff was an extra in the inexplicable hit “Footloose,” which was filmed largely at Payson High School. He will not offer any substantive hints on where to find him in the movie, though. (Between you and me, h is pretty embarrassed about the bad, bad hair and clothes!)
Read Jeff’s stories at the Deseret News website here.

Zack Shutt
Zack Shutt
the show producer, technology geek, and Wesley Crusher of the podcast (with a slightly deeper voice).
On Zack’s “free time” he’s a available for web projects at dangerroomdesign.com. Danger Room Design is a kickass web design collaboration with Zack and Astro.
Leigh George Kade
Leigh George Kade was raised by a wild pack of Hippies in southern California and spent his early youth making spaceships, phasers and tricorders out of cigarette cartons and toilet paper tubes. When he was seven years old, his parents made the terrible mistake of taking Leigh to see Star Wars instead of the Rescuers, and they have regretted it ever since.
After his family moved to Magna, Utah in the early 80’s, Leigh found himself very different from the rest of the kids around him and withdrew into genre escapes; Battle of the Planets, Star Wars, Star Trek, and eventually Dungeons and Dragons. Being an avid illustrator and sculptor, Leigh’s interest in these escapes often took over most of the house, especially when he tried to build a 28mm scale model of a Bavarian Castle in his mother’s living room. Leigh remembers vividly the rush of excitement at discovering the “new” X-Men in an issue of Rom, Space Knight, and ransacking the Magna public library looking for old compilations of Marvel comics. In the mid 80’s, Leigh discovered proto-alternative music, girls, and Warhammer 40,000, which was not necessarily the best combination of interests.
Leigh considers himself a post-Bohemian wanderer, and has tried everything in his power to avoid settling in to an established, “civilized” life. He has worked as a Croupier, group home manager, clerical supervisor, cartoonist, copy writer, disk jockey, radio programmer, and web designer. He founded Black Fez Studios in 1998 to make action figures, scenic bases for toys, and sell custom made war games miniatures and terrain. Leigh lives in the attic of an eccentric German shut-in with the love of his life, Rachel, their two kids, and a demonically possessed Chihuahua named Fergus.

Dear Geek Show Podcast,
I have been listening to your show for awhile, and I totally love the podcast. Even though I don’t agree with everything you guys talk about; the end of battle star and watchmen (seriously, the ending of bsg was shit and watchmen was so pretentious and far up its own ass i wanted to puke and fall asleep many times while watching it [and don’t get the wrong idea, i like slow movies, my top 3 movies are blade runner, 2001, and eraserhead). But I just really want to thank you for telling the audience to check out the show reaper…. i know it was a long time ago, but i was at a dvd store and i saw the case and looked at it, i remembered you guys talking about how good it was and then i saw that the dad from Twin Peaks is in it. Reaper is amazing and I just really want to thank you guys for getting me interested in that show.
I hope you guys keep doing the show, it is something i look forward to every week.
Sincerely,
Jason K.

I really enjoy your show. I look forward to the downloads every week. The only thing I find annoying about your show is Shannon. His comments seem disruptive and unnecessary. They interrupt the flow of the show. It’s one thing to be a geek, but it’s another to be annoying. Again I love the show. Keep up the good work.
what’s up geek show guys? i’ve been hearing about the geek show for over a year from the mediocre show. you know, eric tomorrow and mike pilot. i started listening while i waited for the new mediocre show to come out, and i really like what i hear. i like what you guys talk about, and i also like the music playing in the background in the first few shows. i’ve heard Save Ferris, Goldfinger, and The Aquabats. thank you, thank you, thank you, for playing The Aquabats. they’re a good band, they aren’t nearly as popular as they should be. but anyway, i’ll be listening through the archives to get current, so…yeah
Just listening to 01/10/2010 show.

Hello there my favorite geeks! I have finally almost caught up on my episodes. I am wondering if the “technical difficulties” that were mentioned from the 2/4 show are going to be added back in? I was really disappointed to not hear the heated debate between LGK and Marcus about “as long as its to scale” thing. Also I realize that you guys are pretty busy, but can you accept my Facebook request? I am longing to be your friend!
On a final note, thanks so much Kerry for recommending Penn & Teller in Vegas. Went and saw it with my Australian a couple days ago and can’t remember when I’ve enjoyed myself more! Keep up the good work!!!
Sorry it was the 2/1 show (Kill IT before it kills you)
I think someone should mention that Mirage studios the makers of TMNT have been bought by Nickelodeon/ Viacom. That even includes the comics. So the last mirage produced turtles comic is in the near future! I thought the most recent movie was pretty good. They made a profit on it too according to box office mojo.
